Experience
I have considered myself a mentor and an educator for most of my life. As the eldest in the family, I spent many days helping my younger siblings understand concepts that I myself had already learned. As a Boy Scout, I often found myself in a position to lead the younger scouts. During college, I was blessed to spend a summer teaching Boston's inner city kids geometry skills so that they would be prepared for high school. In the past year, I have been given a whole new glimpse into how we learn, as I began working with preschoolers. Even though I have not been an official educator for very long I have been taught that patience is of vital importance for any teacher. As I have worked with students with a broad range of challenges and individual learning styles, I realized that patience and first listening to the students and understanding their learning style is the best way to discern what their individual needs are. My goal is to help all of my students overcome their problems by teaching them the skills they need to solve their own problems. In this way, my students will feel empowered to reach their full potential.
